On December 26, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) made an important announcement regarding the extension of active Section 301 China product exclusions. Originally slated to conclude on December 31, 2023, the 429 exclusions are now set to endure until May 31, 2024, as outlined in a comprehensive report by the RV Industry Association (RVIA).

In a move signaling transparency and openness, the USTR is actively seeking public input regarding the potential further extension of these specific exclusions. The comment period spans 30 days, commencing from January 21, 2024, and concluding on February 22, 2024. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments through the designated online portal, accessible here.

Having been reinstated in March 2022, these 429 product exclusions have previously undergone two extensions—first to September 30 and then to December 31. The decision to prolong these exclusions is a strategic measure to align them with the USTR’s ongoing 4-Year Section 301 Review, for which comments were initially solicited at the commencement of 2023.

Businesses that have reaped the benefits of these exclusions are strongly advised to actively participate in the upcoming comment process.
